The new Higurashi anime is returning with Higurashi: When They Cry – SOTSU. It will serve as a sequel to Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU. And now, Kadokawa has released a brand new PV for the upcoming anime. It teases the new ED theme song “Missing Promise” by Konomi Suzuki.

The video confirms the new anime’s July 1, 2021 premiere via Tokyo MX, Sun TV, and BS11. In fact, the anime’s first two episodes will be premiering back-to-back on that day.

Much of the cast from GOU will be returning, along with director Keiichiro Kawaguchi. Passione will once again be animating the series, with Akio Watanabe also returning as character designer. In fact, a lot of the staff from GOU re also returning to this new season as well.

These new anime adapt Ryukishi07 and 07th Expansion’s original Higurashi visual novel series. It first received an anime adaptation in 2006, which had 26 episodes. It would get a second season in 2007. Ani-One Asia is currently streaming GOU.
