Yet another work by renowned horror maestro, Junji Ito, is getting an anime adaptation. And this time, it’s his horror classic, Uzumaki. And now, Adult Swim has released a new PV for the upcoming anime. Unfortunately, it also reveals that the anime itself has been delayed. The series will now premiere in October 2022.
The staff originally planned to release the anime via Adult Swim back in 2020. However, due to circumstances (COVID-19), they delayed it to 2021, before delaying it again to next year. It will be a 4-episode mini-series, and will debut in Adult Swim in the United States before its Japanese release. But with the new delay, it’s unclear whether they still plan to do that.
Here is how MyAnimeList describes the anime:
In the town of Kurouzu-cho, Kirie Goshima lives a fairly normal life with her family. As she walks to the train station one day to meet her boyfriend, Shuuichi Saito, she sees his father staring at a snail shell in an alley. Thinking nothing of it, she mentions the incident to Shuuichi, who says that his father has been acting weird lately. Shuuichi reveals his rising desire to leave the town with Kirie, saying that the town is infected with spirals.
But his father’s obsession with the shape soon proves deadly, beginning a chain of horrific and unexplainable events that causes the residents of Kurouzu-cho to spiral into madness.
