Dawn Returns to the Pokemon TV Anime for a TV Special, Magikarp ‘PokeToon’ now available for free Via YouTube
Pokemon just announced a huge return for the TV anime, and it’s none other than Dawn! Also known as Hikari in Japan, Dawn will be making a return during several special episodes of the ongoing Pokemon Master Journeys anime. The staff also confirmed that Megumi Toyoguchi will be reprising her role in the series. The specials will be focusing on the two mythical Pokemon, Darkrai and Cresselia. And as expected, the specials are happening in the Sinnoh region.

The staff also released a brand new PV for the specials (as seen in the video above). They also released a teaser visual featuring Dawn, Darkrai, and Cresselia. The specials will be airing in Japan on July 23 & 30.
And that’s not all, because the official Japanese Pokemon channel has released a new animated short by Studio Colorido. It’s part of their Poketoon series, which previously featured Scraggy and Mimikyu. These shorts are inspired by old school western animation, and you can now watch the latest one for free via YouTube. It features Magikarp, and Studio Colorido animated it.
And just in case you’re wondering why they’re calling it a cartoon they take inspiration from Looney Tunes. And in Japan, they actually treat works of Western animation as anime and also treat the word cartoon as the English meaning of anime. One example would be the fact that Frozen won the most prestigious prize in anime back in 2015, which is Anime of the Year.
