A lot of people in Hollywood are huge Japanese tokusatsu fans. And one of the biggest names is definitely James Gunn. The Guardians of the Galaxy director proudly took to Twitter last July 11th to celebrate Ultraman Day, as well as Ultraman’s 55th Anniversary. He even posed with Ultraman while doing the pose for the Spacium Ray/ Ultra Beam.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Director previously posed with Ultraman and Baltan back in May. He posted this as Netflix announced that they’re teaming up with Tsuburaya Productions for an all new Ultraman animated movie. Gunn has not been shy about his love for Ultraman. He has previously tweeted that he grew up adoring Ultraman. It’s safe to say that he’s just one huge geek and has been geeking out with all the love the Tokusatsu franchise has been getting these days.
Among the other upcoming Ultraman projects include Hideaki Anno and Studio Khara’s upcoming Shin Ultraman movie. Unfortunately, the studio was forced to delay it due to Covid-19. There’s also Production I.G. and Netflix’s 3DCG anime adaptation of Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi’s Ultraman manga. The series is getting a second season, though there’s no release date for that just yet.
