The Eisner Awards are considered “The Oscars of the Comic Book Industry,” being the most prestigious award in the industry. Now, horror manga legend Junji Itou has won not one, but two of them! The Comic-Con @ Home virtual convention has recently held the 2021 Eisner Award ceremony, and Junji Itou won two awards this year. He won the Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia with translator Jocelyne Allen for Remina. Itou also won the Best Writer/Artist for Remina and Venus in the Blind Spot.

This will actually be Junji Itou’s second and third times winning the prestigious award. Previously, he won it back in 2019 for his Frankenstein: Junji Ito Story Collection. He won the Best Adaptation From Another Medium award for that manga.

Junji Ito is considered the greatest horror mangaka ever. He has gained a reputation for disturbing and chilling artwork, as well as some masterful storytelling. He is responsible for some very popular horror classics, such as Uzumaki, Tomie, and many more.
