Fashion brand Gucci has teamed up with American celebrity Miley Cyrus for their new Flora Fantasia campaign. And they have posted a new ad where the former Hannah Montana star turned into an anime character while playing a guitar. And who designed her anime version? It’s Terumi Nishii, who anime fans might know as the character designer behind JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable and Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya. Check out the commercial:
And it looks like a mainly Japanese staff worked on the commercial’s animation as well. Production I.G. USA president Maki Terashima-Furuta has said that Studio Akatsuki animated the video, with animator Akihiko Ota and background artist Kazuki Higashiji also working on the ad. Terashima-Furuta also served as producer for the animation as well.
And it looks like more anime-inspired ads will be coming soon, with other noted animators and anime production staff already on board. These include Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin: Advent of the Red Comet character designer Tsukasa Kotobuki, and Studio Akatsuki CEO Lou Kokuka. In fact, they’re already working on more materials for the campaign, according to Terashima-Furuta.
