Gackt Goes on Indefinite Hiatus, His Neurological Disease Progressing to ‘Life Threatening Condition’
The official website for Japanese megastar, Musician, Actor, and professional Poker Player, Gackt, has some very sad news for fans. They revealed that he will be going on an indefinite hiatus. This is due to him having an early onset neurological disease, which doctors have now found to be progressing into a “life-threatening condition”. This would also lead to a voice disorder known as dysphonia.
Fortunately, Gackt is planning to resume activity as soon as possible after his treatment. According to the website, he has been feeling unwell since returning to Japan last August 6, 2021. The website stated that he has been sick and losing weight for several weeks now. However, the website did say that he is currently in stable condition, though doctors have said that he is not fit for work. Because of this, Gackt is now planning to go overseas once again for treatment.
The singer and former visual-kei band Malice Mizer frontman has been a household name in Japan since the turn of the century. He has performed various anime theme songs, including Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation, Sket Dance, and the Fist of the North Star OVA. He also performed the OP theme song for Kamen Rider Decade as well. He also dabbled in voice acting as well, voicing Dante is Sket Dance, as well as Uesugi Kenshin in Tono no Isshi. We wish him a speedy recovery.
