Buronson and Tetsuo Hara’s Fist of the North Star manga is getting a new stage musical adaptation.It will feature Yuusuke Oonuki as Kenshirou, with several cast members being double casts. One of them would be the role of Yuria for the musical, as two very well known singers will be playing her for the musicals. And they will be Ayaka Hirahara and the singing voice of Sheryl Nome from Macross Frontier herself, May’n!
While Hiorahara is known for performing a few anime theme songs, such as The Story of Saiunkoku and one of the ED songs for Space Battle Ship Yamato 2199 films, May’n is much more known to anime fans. She has performed various OP and ED songs for anime such as Azur Lane, Accel World, Sengoku Basara, and of course, Macross Frontier.
They will be joining Oonuki in the play, as well as other cast members, which include:
- Kazuki Katou and Ryūnosuke Onoda (double cast) as Toki
- Tatsuya Kawaguchi as Ryuuken
- Takuya Uehara and Kandai Ueda (double cast) as Shin
- Kanata Irei and Rio Uehara alternating as Rei and Juuza
- Yuri Shirahane as Tou, Toyo
- Rinko Matsubara as Mamiya
- Ao Watanabe as Bat
- Rena Yamazaki and Hana Kondou (double cast) as Lin
HoriPro, Hakuhodo DY Media Partners, and Ranspace, in collaboration with Coamix are co-producing the play. Frank Wildhorn, who wrote the Whitney Houston hit :Where Do Broken Hearts Go,” is scoring the music. Meanwhile, Sachiko Ishimaru is directing.
The play will be making its premiere in December, at the Nissay Theatre in Tokyo. It will then head to Osaka and Aichi Prefecture in January, before heading to China in 2022.
